UCLA Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics

A one-day workshop to introduce modern methods in machine learning and their application to neuroimaging data. Topics covered will include: an introduction to deep learning, the information bottleneck, parallels between predictive coding and neural networks, novel unsupervised learning techniques, and a tutorial for Machine learning in NeuroImaging (NiLearn) in Python.
This workshop will take place the day after the Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems.

Graduate students, post-docs, faculty, research staff, and others interested in learning more about using machine learning in their research are all welcome to attend.

Parking

The nearest UCLA parking structure is Parking Lot 2, located at 719 Hilgard Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90024. Parking is $12 for the day, and is available from self-serve kiosks. Please see this UCLA self-parking page for more details.

Only cash and credit cards may be used at campus pay stations. Pay stations accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, and American Express. There are no refunds for purchases at campus pay stations.

Pay stations only accept $1, $5, and $10 bills and DO NOT give change in the form of cash or credit.

Lunch Options

Lunch is not provided, but there are there are several places to get lunch in Kerckhoff and Ackerman, which are about a 2 minute walk from IPAM. This is finals week at UCLA, so the campus eateries have special hours.

  • Ackerman A Level (Carl’s Jr, Jamba Juice)
  • UCLA Store (food to go)

There are also many options for lunch available in Westwood Village, which is a 15 minute walk from IPAM.
